A reform of the rating agencies after all ?

The conflicts of interests in which rating agencies are entangled will only be remedied if one ends the problem of moral hazard. If a rating agency is remunerated for a good advice but is not affected when it gives disastrous advice then very little will change.



A complete reform will also make use of the real reason why rating agencies have so much power, namely the explicit referral to ratings in regulation
