Books will soon be obsolete in schools

The introduction of new media in education does not have per definition a positive impact. Neither tablets, nor digitalized books, nor the structure of the education system can guarantee the performances and learning improvement of pupils. Carl Van Keirsbilck (visiting fellow Itinera) concludes in his report that the quality of the teacher is having the largest impact on this. He also proposes to reduce the amount of lessons in secondary education and to invest the saved means in teachers and earlier and intensive remediation of pupils that tend to lag behind.
