De-tracking school: helping the weak, keeping the best

Poland is a successful reformer in terms of performance and inequality: in less than 6 years, it has raised the performance in reading of its 15 years old in PISA by the equivalent of half a school year. It has also reduced by half the proportion of underperforming students and the differences between schools. At the same time the Polish reform 1999/2000 involved among others de-tracking schools with the extension of obligatory comprehensive education for all students until 15 year old.
