Energy prices and purchasing power; how the Di Rupo government selectively communicates about less relevant issues

Belgium has high consumer prices and high taxes. This problematic combination endangers the purchasing power of households and the competitiveness of our companies. Instead of structural measures the government temporarily installed maximum prices. But gas prices are relatively low in Belgium and the price of electricity increased because of higher taxes and higher distribution costs (as a consequence of expensive policy options). The electricity invoice evolved into a fiscal invoice while the price regulation results in self-regulation or the regulation of regional governments by the federal government.
