Belgium has high consumer prices and high taxes. This problematic combination endangers the purchasing power of households and the competitiveness of our companies. Instead of structural measures the government temporarily installed maximum prices.

Because of the high fuel costs and with low electricity prices, efficient natural gas plants are driven out of the market by old coal plants. Investing in new gas plants is economically no longer feasible.

Green energy has a cost and it is eventually supported by consumers. The expected expansion of green energy for 2020 could lead to a yearly additional cost between 106€ and 159€ for a family in Flanders.

The agreement on the three oldest atomic power stations between the nuclear electricity sector and the government risks shutting down the electricity market for a long time. If we want to give competition a chance in this key sector we need a completely new strategy.
